The idea of using centrifugal force to transport water first appeared in sketches made by Leonardo Da Vinci. In 1689, French physicist Papin invented the volute centrifugal pump with four blades impeller. But closer to the modern centrifugal pump was the so-called Massachusetts pump with radial straight blades, semi-open double suction impeller and volute, which appeared in the United States in 1818. From 1851 to 1875, multistage centrifugal pump with guide vane was invented successively, which made the development of high head centrifugal pump possible.
Although as early as 1754, the Swiss mathematician Euler proposed the basic equation of impeller type hydraulic machinery, laid the theoretical basis for the design of centrifugal pump, but it was not until the end of the 19th century, the invention of high-speed motor centrifugal pump to obtain the ideal power source, its advantages can be fully played. On the basis of theoretical research and practice of many scholars such as Renault in Britain and Pfledreer in Germany, the efficiency of centrifugal pump has been greatly improved, and its performance range and application field are also expanding day by day. It has become the most widely used and the largest output pump in modern times.
Centrifugal pump selection and installation centrifugal pump should be in accordance with the delivery of the liquid selection, and check the required performance, analysis of suction, discharge conditions, is intermittent operation or continuous operation. Centrifugal pumps should normally operate at or near the pressure and flow conditions specified in the manufacturer's design. The following review should be carried out when the pump is installed:
(1) The size, position and elevation of the foundation should meet the design requirements, the anchor bolts must be properly and correctly fixed in the concrete foundation, and the machine should not be missing, damaged or corroded;
② According to the characteristics of the conveying medium of the pump, the main parts, shaft seals and gaskets should be checked if necessary;
(3) The leveling and alignment of the pump should conform to the provisions of the equipment technical documents. If there is no provision, it should conform to the provisions of the current national standard "General Specification for the Construction and Acceptance of Mechanical Equipment Installation Engineering";
(4) All the pipelines connected with the pump body, the installation of pipe fittings and the cleaning requirements of lubricating oil pipelines should meet the provisions of the relevant national standards.
